L’iniziativa «aims to collectively build an understanding and foster a dialogue on where ideas and concepts of Service Design have come from, how these evolved over the last two decades as well as report and review current research and service design practices. The motivation is to consolidate existing knowledge and to support the growth of a research community that engages in meaningful research relevant to the challenges design is dealing with today and in the future.»

MaInD è il Master in Interaction Design presso la Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana a Lugano.
La piattaforma web MaInD–Magazine con lo stesso nome rappresenta un web–magazine dedicato all’ interaction design.
Ci sono 7 categorie che coprano il campo:

in research: a focus on the interaction design research with interesting papers and research related projects
in artifacts, in environments, in services: highlights of the most interesting interaction design projects, catalogued according to the three main application fields of the interaction design discipline

In verità è orientato più verso le aziende che verso i designer, tuttavia offre una ricca messe di articoli tra i quali si possono trovare spunti e contenuti interessanti, sia pure di diverso livello. Si va dall’uso e dalla comunicazione delle informazioni digitali (Considering the User Perspective. Research into Usage and Communication of Digital Information), al campo interdisciplinare denominato Services Design, dal redesign del sito del New York Times alla prototipazione…

from my understanding just recently, an interesting initiative has emerged on the scene of postgraduate design research, the desgin research network. it is a discussion platform for design research activities, based in germany, with an international advisory board and supported by Deutsche Telekom Laboratories -associated institute of Technical University Berlin- and linked with the European Academy of Design (EAD) and the German Society for Design Theory and Research (DGTF).

the description on the website reads:

Especially those who are actually writing a Design PhD need good debates with various partners about their own topic.

So it is a matter of particular concern to us, making you never feel lost with your PhD research questions by enhancing Design Research debates among Design Researchers on this Forum. Nell’ottica del coordinamento nazionale dei dottorati in design, è un piacere segnalare il blog di una dottoranda del Politecnico di Milano, interessante come iniziativa e per i contenuti: innovstrategy.blogspot.com.
Il blog, come spiega l’autrice, Valeria Auricchio, si propone come piattaforma in cui raccogliere e pubblicare materiali relativi alla sua ricerca di dottorato, dedicata al ruolo del design nei processi di internazionalizzazione delle PMI (SME).
Il sito è davvero ricco - tutto in inglese -, sollecita contributi e commenti su questi temi e inoltre offre la possibilità di scaricare testi (dai paper della stessa Auricchio ad altri articoli) e trovare una serie di link che credo interesseranno molto alcuni di noi. Un invito a visitarlo.
